Christmas, a magical time
One year ago, the season had already begun. businesses big and small gathered together to “celebrate.”
Celebrate the season, Christmas, Hanukah…celebrate their friendships, their accomplishments of the previous year. Looking forward to further accomplishments. Moreover, they shared food and drink, and comradery. Things were going well from my observation point. The CEOs made speeches recognizing individuals for their contributions. Handing out gifts to one and all.
2019… not so bad…
In retrospect, 2019 was a good year. Many of us just didn’t know the correct perspective to see it as the blessing it was.
Looking back, I didn’t take the time to appreciate my fortune… busy performing, scheduling as many bookings as possible, meeting hundreds of new “friends”. Feeling the warmth of appreciation for magical performances, the laughter, the screams of delight.
2020 Shut Down
2020 is quiet, with no inquiries about the intimate walk-around magic I provide. No calls for the Magic/Comedy Parlor Show. I miss it. I’ll be O.K. we always pay the rent, no meals missed. But to be honest, I am a little sad. If I wasn’t, I wouldn’t be human. It’s OK.

Update 2023
Times have changed since 2019. As I sit here with my laptop, I’ve been working on my December calendar, filling in the dates for Magic Shows and Strolling Gigs. It’s the busiest time of the year…somehow the mind erases a small part of the past. No, I haven’t forgotten, but part of healing is moving forward. To enjoy life, we need to find times when we can live carefree. That doesn’t mean I don’t care, I do, deeply. I need to look after my mental health, so I’ll enjoy working Holiday Parties. I’ll resume my worries and stress around January 2nd, 2023.
