Promoting My Magic with Video

From Photos to Film
In the beginning, we had photographs… yeah, a picture is worth a thousand words. Not so much in the 21st century. Of course, we’ve always had language to convey information, and writing wasn’t far behind.
Video is the best medium to show my clients that I have what they are looking for. It’s impossible to audition for each gig. The answer is live action video, highlighting your talent.
Why Video Works Best

We have had video for a long time… once the media for the rich. Today, our phones can do a pretty impressive job.
- The $1,000 camcorder used to record my children’s first steps was a marvel at the time; now, by comparison, a $200 model is better.
See what clients are saying.
As a professional magician, I have many reviews. Please read some of my testimonials. The reviews are all 5 stars. My clients rave about my performances.
I’ve just found it’s never quite enough. All the pictures of people laughing and gasping at…? Well, in my case, magic. The pictures have never been quite enough. It’s hard to be the salesperson and tell everyone, “I am the best in my field”. I prefer a little humility. Still, I need to deliver the message that I am one of Boston’s most entertaining close-up Magicians. See Video Here.
I plan on making more videos. I want to show examples of the adult birthday, the corporate cocktail, and the company Christmas party. If I do it, I want to show you a video.
Behind the Scenes: How I Film
My wife shoots nonstop during an event. I discard most of the footage, then use Pinnacle Software for editing. It’s user-friendly and delivers professional results.
Getting Permission to Film
I offer some clients a free video of their event—a professional-quality keepsake of their wedding, birthday, etc. It runs 3–7 minutes and is delivered on a thumb drive.
The Exchange
In return, clients allow me to edit about 60 seconds for a promo video on my website, YouTube, and Vimeo. I usually keep it under 60 seconds, because honestly, if you check the analytics, you’ll see how long people actually stick around. So yeah, short and snappy is the way to go.

To be honest, nothing gets a client to commit faster than watching a video or two. After all, seeing is believing—and a quick visual can build trust way faster than a long pitch.thing gets a client to commit faster than watching a video or two. How do I know? They tell me.
